Heart Disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States. According to Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) , as of 2018, 30.3 million U.S.  were diagnosed with heart disease. Every year, about 647,000 Americans die from heart disease, making it the leading cause of death in the United States. Heart disease causes 1 out of every 4 deaths. Ensuring a healthy heart one also has to consider what they eat.

Foods To Keep Your Heart Healthy.

Diet plays a major a part in heart health. “There isn’t a food that will save your life … And there isn’t one that’s going to kill you. For many years, the American Heart Association has recommended that people eat fish rich in unsaturated fats at least twice a week. The Omega-3-fatty acids, help in reducing blood clot, lowering blood pressure and reduce irregular heartbeats.

Strawberries, black berries, blue berries and rasp berries contain numerous nutrients that help in cardiac health. They improve the functioning off the arteries, lower cholesterol and also contain anti-inflammatory properties. 

  1. Leafy green vegetables.

These are; kale, spinach, lettuce and collard greens. These are recommended for their richness in vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants. Kale contains bile acid sequestrates that lower cholesterol levels. Greens are also rich in Vitamin K which help protect your arteries and help in promoting proper blood clotting.
